Deborah Kay Collins

Funeral services for Deborah Kay Collins, age 60, of Centerville and formerly of Newton, Texas have been set for 1 pm, Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville. Rev. Josh Blizzard will officiate, and burial will follow in the North Creek Cemetery. Visitation for Deborah Collins is scheduled for Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 6 pm until 8 pm at the Walters Funeral Home.

Deborah Kay (Hawthorne) Collins was born July 18, 1957 in Newton, Texas to Benton and Beatrice (Bailey) Hawthorne. After she graduated from high school, she worked as a telephone operator for the Continental Telephone Company in Newton for about eleven years. She married Mark Collins and was his wife for the past 32 years. She and Mark moved to Leon County in 2004. Deborah loved to paint in oils and to draw. She went “pond fishing”, worked in her flower beds and enjoyed “flea marketing”. She also loved being with her family and being “Nana” to her grandchildren, as well as, cooking for and taking care of her family.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; older brother, Dwayne Hawthorne and grandson, Mark Hess. She died at her residence on March 25, 2018. Surviving family includes her husband, Mark Collins of Centerville; son, Dylan Collins and his wife, Staci, of Centerville; daughter and son-in-law, Casey and Corey Axum of Centerville; step-daughter and husband, Christina and Brian Tindell of Centerville; brother, Willie Don Hawthorne and wife, Kim, of Newton and nine grandchildren, Ryan Hutchison, Adalynn Collins, Wyatt Axum, Chloe Axum, Shelby Axum, Troy Hess, Adrienne Hendrix, Kyle Collins and Blake Collins.

Services are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
