David Hargett Morris, II, 66, died unexpectedly at his much loved South Texas Ranch on August 11, 2022. He was born on December 9, 1955, to Alice June and David Hargett Morris, I in Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elizabeth. He leaves behind his wife and dear partner, Vickie (aka Bubba), who celebrated forty-one years of marriage last December. He is also survived by his beloved children and their families: Amy and Jonathan Fuller; Taylor and Phil White; Tyler and Rachel Morris; cherished grandsons, Sterling and Hayes Fuller; and the eagerly-awaited (soon-to-be-born) granddaughter, Raylee Jo Morris. He also loved his “other” kids: Travis Powers, Tyler Jacobs, Riley Noey, Maci Bumpurs, Jenna Bumpurs, and Brock Bumpurs. Each member of his family was a source of pride so that if you knew him, you had probably seen his always-at-the-ready pictures of them.
David graduated from Memorial High School in 1974 and worked on the ranch his entire life. He also worked as an EMT alongside Vickie for eight years. The ranch suited him, as he was a “wild child,” who loved riding bulls and racing cars, but he also enjoyed the quieter pursuits of hunting and fishing. He spent four years as a Leon County constable starting in 1997, and he was the president of the Marquez Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He showed cattle all over and won the Houston Livestock show multiple times; he was also a judge at the Houston Livestock Bull show. Oh, yes, and he was a pilot, as he never backed down from a challenge and found flying exhilarating. Vickie was game enough to ride with him, even though some of the trips were white-knuckled for her.
