David Elroy Wilson, Sr., born August 20, 1945, in Houston, Texas lost his battle against cancer on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.
He was inducted into the United States Army July 1966, where he served in Vietnam as a tank driver and reached the rank of SPEC 5 in the 4th Infantry, 10th Calvary. He was a big Elvis fan and loved John Wayne movies. He retired from GE after over thirty years and moved to Leon County in 2005.
David was always willing to lend a helping hand, loved to talk to people, loved to mow the pasture, loved his animals, loved his family, loved his friends and most of all, loved his wife. He was a member of the local American Legion Post No. 335, the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as a director at Southeast Water.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, David and wife, Jennifer; two granddaughters, Jessica and Lauren and his sister, Carol and her husband, Bill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Ann (Gasper) Wilson and brothers, Donald and Tommy.
David leaves a big hole in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service celebrating David's life will be held 1 P.M., Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Pastor Tuffy Loftin will officiate the service. Military funeral honors will be presented by the United States Army.
