Danny Lane Largent

Funeral services for Danny Largent, 68, of Centerville, will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Rev. Dean Easterling, pastor of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate the service. Interment will be in the New Salem Cemetery southeast of Centerville in the Centerview Community. Visitation will take place from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Friday, October 20th at the funeral home.

Danny Lane Largent was born on August 16, 1949 in Plantersville, Texas to William Norris & Vernice Ruth (Eiland) Largent. He was raised in Kline, Texas and moved with his family to Centerville when he was a Junior in High School. Danny married Cathie Pate a few years after graduation and they made their home in Centerville. While his children were attending school, Danny worked gauging oil wells. This afforded him the opportunity to do what he loved doing most—attending all of the sporting events that his children were involved in. He and Cathie were faithful members of the Tiger Booster Club, volunteering their time and service whenever they could. Danny also served as president for several years. He coached Little Dribblers Basketball teams while his children were young and is probably most remembered for being a referee. He was a referee for a number of years, gauging wells during the day, and attending basketball games in the evening wherever he was called to go. Sports were a big part of Danny’s life. As if Danny wasn’t busy enough, he also helped his father-in-law, Alvin Pate, on his ranch, in whatever capacity he was needed. Danny later worked as a truck driver for Zoch Construction. He was a faithful member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for a number of years and had recently moved his membership to the Triple S Cowboy Church in Palestine.

Danny passed away on October 16, 2017 in Palestine. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Cathie Largent; son, David Largent; father-in-law, Alvin Pate & niece, Alicia Finch. Surviving family members include son, Daniel Largent (Kristie) of Centerville; daughter, Danna Warren (Mark) of Centerville; sister, Sherry Finch (John) of Palestine; mother-in-law, Rose Pate of Centerville; grandchildren, Shelton Largent (Courtney), Tracer Largent, Ty Warren, Caitlyn Warren, Koylin Largent, Steven Largent, Shyanne Largent, David Largent & Catherine Largent; great grandson, Tucker Lane Largent; niece, Regina Finch & nephews, Shane & Brandon Pate.

Danny’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas is in charge of all arrangements.
