Funeral services for Curtis Dishongh, age 88, of Madisonville, will be held Friday May 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Madisonville Funeral Home with Jerry Allen Cole officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenbriar Cemetery. A brief visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to service time on Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Dishongh was born October 26, 1928 in Bedias, Texas to James Franklin and Debbie (Kerr) Dishongh. He was raised in Bedias and always loved his years growing up there, as well as, the fond memories of life in Bedias, even until the time he passed away. Mr. Dishongh served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He lived in Houston most of his life and worked forty-two years for Hughes Tool Company, starting as young employee and moving up in the company to a supervisor position before he retired. Mr. Dishongh was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville. While living in Houston he and his wife were always active in the churches they attended. In 1977, he was ordained as a deacon. Mr. Dishongh was a quiet man and enjoyed working outside. He also enjoyed watching football and other sports and equally enjoyed playing fourty two at social events. Mr. Dishongh passed away May 2, 2017 in Madisonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Myrtle Pyle (husband, Odell), Genevieve Dishongh, Marguerite Callender (husband, Laverne), Marie Tadlock (husband, Aubrey), Mignon Dishongh, Imodene Hooper (husband, Otha); brother, James Dishongh and two nieces, Kay Evans and Jean Ramsey.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Winters Dishongh; son Michael Dishongh and wife, Terry; daughter, Susan Dishongh; grandsons, Justin Dishongh, Bryce Dishongh and Randy Lewis; granddaughters, Leslie Williams and husband, Rodney and Ashley Lewis; step-grandchildren, Ryan Jasso, Justin Jasso; great grandchildren, Kourtney Shull and Ryan Williams; step-great grandson, Julius Jasso and sister-in-law, Lucy Dishongh. Mr. Dishongh is also survived by nieces, Paula Jankowski and Helen Cole; nephews Matt, David, and Tim Dishongh and numerous great nieces & nephews and great, great nieces & nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bedias Baptist Church Youth Ministry, P.O. Box 176, Bedias, Texas 77831.
