Charles Eugene Toland, Sr., age 76, of Centerville, Texas passed away surrounded by the love of his family on August 15, 2024, at his home in Centerville, Texas. He was born on December 1, 1947, in Centerville, to loving parents, Claude Edward and Mary Ruth (Bain) Tolan. A dedicated and proud member of the U.S. Army, Charles dedicated many years of his life to serving his country with honor and integrity.
After his military service, Charles built a successful career as a Route Salesman for the Coca-Cola Company before retiring back to his beloved hometown of Centerville, Texas. Known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to his profession, Charles' dedication left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Throughout his life, Charles found joy in the simple things – from hunting in his younger years to fishing, gardening, and dancing. He cherished time spent with family and friends, with family gatherings and bar-b-ques being some of his favorite pastimes. His loving presence, strong spirit, and undeniable passion for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Charles was a devoted and ever-present father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, actively involved in the lives of his loved ones. His headstrong and stubborn nature only added to his endearing character, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Charles' life will be held at Walters Funeral Home, Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10 A.M. Wayne Bell will serve as the officiant. Following the service, Charles will be laid to rest next to his beloved, Yolanda, in the Centerville Cemetery, Centerville, Texas.
As we reflect on the remarkable life of Charles Eugene Toland, Sr., let us remember and celebrate the legacy of a man who touched the hearts of many and left an indelible mark on the world around him. May his spirit live on in the cherished memories and stories shared by those who knew and loved him.
Charles was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Yolanda Toland; son, Charles "Eugene" Toland, Jr. and sister, Robbie Lynn Roliard. Surviving family members include daughters, Michelle Mutina (Scott) of Beeville and Beverly Ewer (Pervis) of Kansas; step-children, Lisa Caldwell (Ricky) of Houston, Louis Lizcano of Houston, Michelle Moreno of Houston, and Rene Lizcano of Houston; siblings, John Tolan (Jacquelyn) of Rowlett, Claude Toland (Billie) of Cypress, James Toland of Houston, Katherine Holbrook of Kingwood, Larry Roliard (Brenda) of Spring, and Stanley Roliard (Gina) of Humble; grandchildren, Megan, Ryen, Cody, Kaylen, Gregory, Thomas, Ricardo, Antonio, and Mishae; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Harleigh, Beau, Gregory, Angelo, Anthony, Dana, Ezaiah, and one great-grandchild on the way.
