Charles Henry Alvarez was born June 10, 1948 in San Antonio, Texas and passed away January 11, 2023 in Hilltop Lakes, Texas. He was one of seven children born to Blas Alvarez & Dora (Medina) Alvarez.


Charles and his siblings were raised and grew up in San Antonio. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, earning several commendations including the National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Citation Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Charles had lived in Minnesota for about ten years prior to moving back to Texas, and was a retiree of American Airlines where he worked in the booking department.


In his free time, Charles enjoyed going to the "movie house" to see his favorite movies. Additionally, he liked going to theme parks, traveling to places via airplane and playing arcade games. Charles was also a huge Batman fan.


Charles was preceded in death by both of his parents; son, Charles Joseph Alvarez and siblings, Ida Mullins, Terri Taylor and Roland Alvarez. Surviving family members include children, Charlotte Josephine Alvarez (Kris), Jessica Dora Alvarez, Kristina Lee Petterssen, Raymond Charles Alvarez and Shirley Suzanne Gibson (Chris); brothers, Roy Medina and Blas Alvarez, Jr.; sister, Christina Armstrong (Terry); grandchildren, Alexis, Jace, Mikey, Cavan, Rain, Navie, Rio, Sidney, Luke, Rylee and Vivian and numerous extended family and friends.


Memorial inurnment services for Charles will be held 2:15 P.M., Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.


Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
