Funeral services for Cade Marshall Phillips, age 12, will be held at 10 A.M., Friday, December 29, 2017 at Ephesus Baptist Church near Jewett, Texas. Pastors Dwain Pollard & Ray Payne will officiate, and interment will follow in the Gum Springs Cemetery outside of Flynn, Texas in rural Leon County. A visitation will be held from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Thursday, December 28th at the church.
Cade Marshall Phillips was born on August 26, 2005 in Bryan, Texas to Paul Marshall Phillips and Kim Fridel. He grew up in the Brazos Valley and was currently a sixth grader in Nomangee Middle School in Normangee, Texas. Cade loved football. He was a member of the Leon County Football Association 12-U football team. Donning the number 44 “Lightning” football jersey, he played the positions of full back, tight end and line backer. When Cade was on the field he was in his element and was a pleasure to coach. Ever the inquisitive and venturesome young man, Cade never wanted to miss out on any type of excursion or undertaking. He was more than willing and ready to go at a moment’s notice, born with a robust sense of adventure. Cade had accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at a young age and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Flynn, Texas. He passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 in a Houston, Texas hospital. Cade was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Fridel.
Surviving family members include father, Paul Phillips (Brittany) of Normangee; mother, Kim Fridel of Welborn; brothers, Cameron Phillips and Bryce Phillips; sister, Carleigh Miller; paternal grandparents, Brandye Smith (Whitney) and John Phillips (Shelley) and maternal grandmother, Sherri Fridel. Cade is also survived by aunts, Courtney Harris (Andrae); Pam Cantu (Ernest) and Madeleine Phillips; uncles, Wesley Muth, Richard Fridel and Shane Muth (Kim), as well as, numerous cousins, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the Phillips family requests that memorial donations be made to an account set up in Cade’s name at any local Wells Fargo Branch.
