Bonnie Easterling, age 90, was born in Freestone, Texas on July 13, 1931. She passed away peacefully in College Station, Texas on April 8, 2022. She was the daughter of Mark Cooper and Alma Rankin Cooper. Bonnie graduated from Buffalo High School in 1948, and later that year married Curtis Easterling, the love of her life. They made their home in the Evans Chapel community near Leona, and were married for more than seventy years.
Bonnie was a wife and homemaker, and worked along with Curtis in managing the family ranch. She was a member of the Evans Chapel United Methodist Church. Bonnie was a devoted mother and grandmother, and she will be missed dearly.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis; by her parents; her brothers, Allen, Buford, and LRoy Cooper; and also by grandson, Wade Wilson. She is survived by son, John Nelson Easterling of Wingate, North Carolina; son, Ward Easterling and wife, Cindy of the Evans Chapel Community, Texas; daughter, Lou Ellen Hassold and husband, Tommy, also of Evans Chapel; brother, Gary Cooper of Buffalo and sister, Lou Zufall of Corsicana. She is also survived by grandchildren, Chrisinda VanArsdale, Teri Lawson, Amy Smith, Lisa Brooks, Chad Wilson, Alex Wilson, Layne Davis, Curtis Wilson, and Lauren Hassold; fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas on Sunday, April 10th from 5:00 P.M. to 7 P.M. Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, April 11th at 10:00 A.M. at the Evans Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. John Burchell will officiate. Pallbearers will be Alex Wilson, Curtis Wilson, John Lawson, Mark Smith, Deon Brooks, and Jacob Scott. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Hassler, Buddy Ruffeno, Ron Miller, Rodney Miller, Bob Shannon, Larry Watson, Royce Keeling, and Carl Ross.
The Easterling family wishes to thank all those who helped us care for Bonnie; including her dear friend, Lynette Carlisle, the loving and supportive staff at the Langford in College Station, and the hospice nurses and aides from Encompass Healthcare.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Evans Chapel Cemetery Association, 8167 County Road 410, Normangee, TX 77871; or to the Langford Covenant Fund at the Methodist Retirement Communities Foundation, 1440 Lake Front Circle, The Woodlands, TX 77380.
