Bobbie Jean (Mcrae) Mitchell

Bobbie Jean (McRae) Mitchell, age 80, of Warren, Texas and formerly of Centerville, Texas passed away peacefully August 11, 2023 in Woodville, Texas. A service of celebration to honor her life will be held 12 Noon, Friday, August 18, 2023 at New Salem Cemetery Chapel in the Centerview Community of Leon County, Texas. A brief visitation will take place prior to the service Friday from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon at the chapel.

Bobbie Jean (McRae) Mitchell was born August 20, 1942 in Centerview, Texas to Bob & Mary Frances (Duke) McRae. She, as well as many generations of her family, was raised and remained in the Centerville area most of her life. Bobbie was a familiar and friendly face in many local restaurants of which she was employed, including the Halfway House, Dairy Queen and Town Cafe.

In her younger years, Bobbie enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She had always had a green thumb and especially loved driving the roads of Leon County to see the Dogwood trees as they would first bloom in the spring. When she became a grandmother, Bobbie devoted much of her time to caring for her "babies" and loved doing so. When her latest furry friend, Gizmo, came into Bobbie's life, her family quickly realized that they would soon be taking a back seat to the animal. Bobbie loved that dog more than anything and it became her newest "baby," providing her with so much joy in her later years. Bobbie was a delight to her family and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Bobbie was preceded in death by both of her parents and brothers, Larry Joe McRae & Morgan Lee McRae.

Surviving family members include beloved daughters, Anita Jean Hall (Willard Eugene) of Warren, Lisa Farmer (Ricky) of Avalon, Mary Carlene Sanders of Thornton and Teresa Perkins (Randy) of Porter; grandchildren, Lonnie, Jr., Larry, Aleisha, Amber (fiance, Zach Sonnier), Curtis, Clayton, Heather, Allen, Cody and Jacob; and fifteen great-grandchildren with one on the way. Bobbie is also survived by her furry companion, Gizmo, as well as numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
