Bobbie Dorothy Beck

Bobbie Beck, of Fairfield and formerly of Hubbard, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Fairfield at the age of eighty-four years. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas. Bro. Ray Grissett, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, will officiate the service and interment will follow in the Bold Springs Cemetery near West, Texas. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 9 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Allen, Jared Hawthorne, Chris Hawthorne, Robert Beard, Daniel Pate and Mike Doak.

Bobbie Dorothy Beck was born on February 14, 1932 in Aquilla, Texas to William E. & Estell Lou (Williams) Poteet. She owned and operated Hawthorne Upholstery Shop for many years, but always considered her most important job a homemaker and caregiver to her family. Bobbie loved growing roses, dancing and playing 42." She was also a collector of thimbles. Bobbie was a lifelong resident of Hubbard and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hubbard. She attended for as long as she could walk through the doors, and was later taken in a wheelchair when her legs would no longer carry her.

Bobbie was preceded in death by both of her parents; second husband, Donald C. Beck; son, Mark Hawthorne; granddaughter, Leslie Pate; great grandson, Robert Michael Beard; brothers, Odell & Travis Poteet and sisters, Georgia Kruger, Helen Stepp and Ina Jean Poteet. She is survived by sons, Robert Hawthorne (Sharon) of Buffalo & David Hawthorne (Susan) of Buffalo; daughters, Belinda Pollard (Don) of Centerville & Judy Boyd (Don) of Buffalo; brother, Bill Poteet of Melissa and sisters, Jimmie Smith of Waco and Johnnie Doty of Waxahachie. Bobbie is also survived by nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas is in charge of all arrangements.
