Billy Joe Crowe

Billy Joe Crowe, age 92, was born July 3, 1930 in Bells, Tennessee to parents, Willis Hunter and Ruby (Moore) Crowe. He was a graduate of Bells High School. Billy and his brother, Charles were proud members of the United States Military. Billy had served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He also served in the Tennessee Air National Guard.

Billy married Peggy Churchwell in May of 1953. They shared sixty-two years together as man and wife until Peggy's passing in 2015. Billy worked as a lithographer in the Printing Industry until his retirement. He and Peggy moved to Centerville in May of 1989, coming from Houston where they enjoyed their retired life together in the country. It was there that Billy spent his time taking care of their property and caring for the many deer that visited. Billy had also enjoyed traveling with his wife in their younger years, as well as his nephew from time-to-time.  Billy loved his country and was a proud member of the Centerville American Legion.

Billy passed away June 12, 2023 in Madisonville, Texas. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Peggy Crowe; infant son, Joe Paul Crowe and brother, Charles Crowe.

Surviving family members include daughters, Vicky Haltom of Madisonville and Barbie Crowe of Houston; granddaughter, Erica Hathcoat (Daniel) of Bryan; great-grandchildren, Colin and Sadie Hathcoat and grand-dog, Lucy. Billy is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A funeral service honoring Billy's life will be held 9:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. Bro. Johnny Veretto will officiate the service. Billy will be laid to rest next to his wife in Centerville Cemetery, Centerville, Texas.
