Bettie Hanson Dixon

February 10, 1925 — October 22, 2017

Bettie Jane Mitchell Hanson Dixon was born in Zwolle, Louisiana on February 10, 1925. She went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2017. She spent several years of her childhood in Louisiana, but eventually moved with her family to Houston, Texas. In August of 1944 she married a young Air Force Lieutenant named Halworth Noble Hanson from Holmen, Wisconsin. The following year the young couple welcomed their first child in July. They named her Karen Ann. In 1951, their second daughter was born in October—Kristi Lee. In 1988, Holly (Halworth) passed away in Pasadena, Texas. In December, 1991 she married Melvin Dixon and welcomed his children into her family.

Bettie is also preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Hobart Mitchell, her brother, Hobart, Jr., her sister, Maurine and brother-in-law, Frank White.

She leaves behind her husband, Melvin C. Dixon, daughters, Karen and Kristi, daughter, Terri and husband, Chuck, son, Clarence and wife, Wendy, son, Steven and wife, Kathy, son, Mickey and wife, Kay, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other loved ones.

A funeral service is to be held at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas on Wednesday, October 25 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be on Thursday, October 26th at 1:00 P.M. at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

Walters Funeral Home is entrusted with all arrangements.
