A funeral service will be held at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville at 10 AM on Saturday, May 12, 2018 for Beth Rodell, age 78, of Centerville. Burial will take place following the funeral service in the Centerville Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 11, 2018 from 6 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home.
Beth Rodell was born February 16, 1940 in Crockett, Texas to Elbert and Lillian (Womack) Tilley. She and her husband, Daniel Lee Rodell were married on July 6, 1957. Beth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Centerville.
She was the administrator for over 21 years at the Leisure Lodge Nursing Home in Centerville (now known as the Centerville Healthcare Center). Before that, she was the facility’s Social and Activity Director. She had also worked five years for Home Health Care. Beth was one of the pioneers of the 4th of July Celebration. She also coordinated the Volunteer Fire Department Talent Shows for 14 plus years. She was a member of the Centerville Area Chamber of Commerce for many years and was awarded the 1992 Woman of the Year Award, the 1997 and the 2002 Special Chamber Awards, and the Chamber’s 2008 Pioneer Award. In 1999, Beth was also given the Healthcare Center Award. She was a member and supporter of “Friends of Ft. Boggy” and served on the Library Board for a time.
However, the most important title or award in her heart was as “Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother” of her off-spring. Beth was an avid follower of her grandkids for all of their sports and activities and the great-grandkids when she could. The day prior to her going to be with the Lord she said that watching her grandkids was some of her favorite times in life.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, E.J. Tilley and Guyn Tilley; and her ister, Roseline Tilley Boyd.
