Alford Lee West

September 11, 1951 — September 23, 2017

Lee West was born at home by a midwife to Arnell Deloise and Jacob West on September 11, 1951. He attended Douglas High School with the class of 1969. Lee worked at Winn Meat Company for 47 years as a production supervisor for a division of Ben E. Keith Food. He loved his job and working with all of his coworkers. Lee met Ora at Douglas High School, and they later married. They have one baby boy, Troy. Lee gave his life to Christ at an early age at the Old Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.

In the morning of September 23, 2017, this loving husband, father and grandfather took his journey home to join his father, Jacob; his mother, Arnell Deloise; his brothers, James and Eric; his sisters, Uneeda and Felicia and sister-in-law, Sandra.

Lee leaves behind his wife, Ora West (they were married for 43 years); son, Troy West; sisters, Minnie, Shirley and Paula; brother, Michael (Doris); grandson, Jordan West; granddaughter, Joi West; nephews, Curtis, DeNodrick, Eric Jr., Tony Jr. and Jacoby West and nieces, Shawna, Ashley, Candace, Elainah, Alicia and Ciera.

Lee enjoyed talking to everyone. Nobody was a stranger to him. He would meet someone in the store or on the street and would talk to them with no hesitation. Everybody would call him "Big Man." His coworkers called him "Boss." He smiled and laughed all of the time. He was always helping his family and friends. He enjoyed hanging out with his homeboys: Joe Lee, Jack, Jimmy, Lue, Johnnie, Earl, Charles, Pete, Matthew, Chester, Roy, Isaiah (if anybody was missed...you know who you are!). He will be missed by everyone and will never be forgotten. He loved his son, wife, grandkids and family very much. He loved everybody in his own way and was always smiling.

A homegoing celebration for Lee was held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in the Hopewell Community of Leon County, Texas. Rev. Darrell Porter was the officiant and eulogist. Burial followed in the Hopewell Cemetery, adjacent to the church.

Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas was in entrusted with all arrangements.
